AI Assistant

You may already have asked yourself: why does the package include such a simple storefront, and only in a single version? That is intentional. We suggest doing it the right way, rather than following the old template where someone else’s vision is imposed on you: your store should be yours and unlike the others. That is exactly why you need an AI assistant — a jack of all trades: developer, analyst, and regular content manager all in one.

How the integration works

Melbis Shop communicates with artificial intelligence via the MCP protocol. This means you are not tied to a single provider and are free to choose any AI agent that understands this protocol.

The widest-open door is to register at https://openrouter.ai/ and install Cherry Studio: this gives you immediate access to the full range of models available today and lets you work with them via API.

Still, as of today — and it is now 2026 — we strongly recommend starting with Claude Code. It is the simplest path with very high-quality performance, and the MCP protocol itself is their creation, polished better than by anyone else.

Next, we will go through the installation and connection process specifically for Claude Code.

Step 1. Installing Claude Code

First, download the application from the website: https://claude.com/product/claude-code. Click the "Download for Windows" button and follow the installer prompts.

Install Claude Code on the same computer where the Melbis Shop client application is installed: the assistant works side by side with it, using its data.

Step 2. Installing Git

Next, you will need the Git package — it tracks file versions. Most likely, you will never see its work with your own eyes, but it is mandatory for Claude Code.

You can download it here: https://git-scm.com/install/windows, using the "Git for Windows/x64 Setup" link.

The Git installer will ask many different questions — do not worry and do not read too deeply into them: just click "Next" and continue, the default values are fine.

Step 3. Signing up for Claude

Now you need an account. You can create one directly from the installed Claude Code app or on the website https://claude.ai/login. The easiest and most reliable way is to sign in with Google or Apple, just as you already did when buying a server on DigitalOcean and registering a domain on Cloudflare.

Step 4. Subscription

Here you will have to pay: today, Claude Code works only with a paid subscription. The simplest plan — Pro — will be enough: $20 per month with monthly billing, or $17 per month if you pay for a full year upfront.

What about the Melbis Shop side

Nothing needs to be done here. The MCP server is included in the Melbis Shop distribution and is already installed on your computer along with the program — there is nothing else to install.

There is also no need to buy separate licenses for the AI assistant: it works on behalf of the user specified in the Melbis Shop program and with the same permissions.
