The history of Melbis began back in 2002, when the online retail industry was only emerging and internet access was measured in kilobytes per second. It was then that the core principle of our platform architecture was established: maximum performance and minimal server load under any conditions.
Over more than twenty years of continuous development, we have come a long way together with our clients, adapting to new market challenges and technology trends. Our software suite has reached its sixth generation. And this is not just a marketing change of the number in the name. It means that throughout the project’s history, we have practically rewritten the core of the software from scratch six times, completely changing the architecture so that it always remains at the cutting edge of technological progress and meets the growing demands of high-load e-commerce.
Platform Evolution: Milestones of Our Development
- 2002: Origins. The birth of the Melbis Shop concept. The creation of a unique hybrid architecture that made it possible to radically speed up work with catalogs and orders through a native Windows client.
- 2007: The era of widespread recognition. Release of Melbis Shop 5. This became the most widely adopted and popular version of the platform, earning the trust of thousands of users and becoming a true standard of reliability for online stores of that time.
- 2012: Looking to the future. Start of 6th-generation development. The e-commerce market began to grow rapidly in complexity, and we made a strategic decision to lay a fundamentally new foundation. The design of an architecture capable of handling enormous loads and managing hundreds of thousands of products without losing speed began.
- 2019: Technological breakthrough. Release of Melbis Shop 6.3.0. At that time, it was the most stable, secure, and functional version of the platform. It introduced new standards of scalability, multi-user collaboration, and flexible distribution of permissions among staff.
- 2026: Architectural excellence. Release of Melbis Shop 6.5.0. This is the culmination of our many years of experience — the most refined, fastest, and technologically advanced version. We have perfected caching mechanisms, integration with modern web modules (including bridges with Laravel), and tools for comfortable development.
Our Philosophy: Practice Always Matters More Than Theory
The key difference between Melbis Shop and many other systems lies in our approach to testing. We do not release “raw” updates relying only on synthetic tests in ideal conditions. Before offering a new version to the market, we spend years thoroughly testing every line of code, every SQL query, and every algorithm on our own high-load retail projects and the real stores of our partners.
We are our own most demanding clients. We know from practice how a server behaves during peak customer traffic, how critical uninterrupted admin panel operation is when handling thousands of product attributes, and how to reliably protect business information from failures.
